Title of Research: Cloud Data Governance - Auditing Guidelines Mapping
I completed my Master of Cyber Security at the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. My research project was part of the New Zealand Government funded STRATUS (Security Technologies Returning Accountability, Trust and User-centric Services in Cloud Computing) project. My project involved linking the auditing guidelines and technical implementations.
CROW developed a data provenance tracking tool for the Cloud environment to track data activities in the Cloud. It helps maintain data provenance and enables the owners of the data know if malicious insiders have accessed their data. However, the tool is not convenient enough for the real-world auditors to use. So the aim of my research was to improve the tracking tool by automating the data governance process and mapping the record from the tracking tool with auditing guidelines. As the result, it aimed to increase the uptake of the data provenance tracking tool.
