Biography

Dr Richard Nelson is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato and a member of the university’s WAND network research group, which focusses on network measurement.

He currently leads the Network Infrastructure Project, which is supported by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and has also led WAND projects developing network measurement systems and deploying them in commercial and research settings throughout New Zealand

Dr Nelson has more than 25 years’ experience in telecommunications and networking roles in the private sector in New Zealand and the UK.

Dr Nelson holds a BE (Hons) in Electrical Engineering and ME from the University of Canterbury, where he also completed his PhD.
