Daniel has just recently joined CSA as Assistant Research Analyst. He is currently studying his Masters of Cyber Security in the University of Waikato, New Zealand. Daniel's research will be linked to the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM) of CSA for governance requirements. His research will collaborate with the Cloud Data Governance Working Group to obtain verification and validation to improve the privacy and security of data across private and public clouds. He will also focus on how New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) framework can be used in most of the developing countries.
Before joining CSA, Daniel was working as a Computer Programmer of the Ministry of Education and Training head office of Tonga for more than 5 years, and became a System Administrator for the Ministry to MEIDECC (under the ICT Division). He was involved in a team that had started the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) for Tonga which was first established in 2016, and the first CERT to be setup in the Pacific Island countries at the time. In addition, Daniel was involved in managing a new data centre that had been commissioned in Tonga, dealing with virtual machines and cloud computing data storage for the E-Government in Tonga.
He has completed his Bachelor of Science with a double major in Computer Science and Information System from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. Outside of university, Daniel loves to play touch rugby, playing cards and also involve in sharing culture with international students.
